Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Q Score?
The Q Score is a measure of your relative risk of developing cardiovascular disease - which often manifests itself as either a heart attack or a stroke. On a scale of 0 to 100, the higher your Q Score the healthier your lifestyle, the lower your risk and the healthier you are likely to be.

The Q Score is closely aligned with the internationally recognised Framingham score which provides an absolute risk of developing cardiovascular disease within 10 years - but the Q Score goes further to incorporate a wider range of lifestyle factors.

We also calculate your Optimum Q Score - the maximum Q Score that you are able to achieve - so that you can see just how much potential you have to lower your risk.

What sort of information will I need to provide?
The Q Score takes into account all of the key risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease including:

age and sex
family history of cardiovascular disease
personal history of diabetes
biometrics (blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index)
lifestyle (physical activity, smoking, diet, alcohol, stress and sleep)

All of this information is captured by our online health risk assessment  and your Q Score is calculated and explained immediately. These factors also affect your risk of developing many other conditions as well as, of course, your general wellbeing; so the Q Score also provides a wider indication of general health.

What if I don’t know my blood pressure or cholesterol levels?
Either visit your GP or you can often get blood pressure and cholesterol measured at large pharmacies, failing this just enter “Don’t know” in the options on the Q Score and we will average your measurements until you are able to get accurate readings.

How long does it take to complete the Q Score assessment?
It should take you around 10 to 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire and receive your Q Score. You can also break off during completion and return to the questionnaire later to finish it off.

How often can I update my score?
You can update your Q Score as often as you wish. We encourage you to do this at least every two to three months so that you can monitor your improvements in health.

Okay, I have my Q Score - what next?
